I had an amazing time riding a bike around Austin while visiting relatives. Given the expense and work needed to ship a bike for a very short vacation, it was easier (and cheaper) to just rent one for a few days. Mellow Johnny’s got me an appropriately sized bicycle and even adjusted the seat height before I left the store. The included handlebar bag was a nice touch giving me a place to keep my phone for navigation. Also, the proximity of the store makes it convenient to do shorter rentals and ride around Lady Bird Lake and the associated bike trail,

Decent hybrid bikes for $30 per day. These bikes did the job for a tour of the city. The shop is also nicely located and the bikes are well maintained. The only problem was the unfriendly staff when we returned the bikes at the end of the day. I’ve rarely seen someone as unmotivated as this person. He was unwilling to help in general giving the impression that we were bothering him. That impacted our overall experience with Mellow Jonny’s.

Rented a bike on a quick trip into Austin and they were great. They used my measurements that I’d sent in advance and set me up on a rental that felt perfectly dialed in. No adjustments needed. They were accommodating with pick up and drop off schedules as well. All in all, very professional, very pleasant.

The Hideout Theatre is truly an amazing space.
I started my improv journey here, as an awkward introvert, in an effort to improve my own confidence and to make myself more interesting and outgoing.
After a year and a half, I think I accomplished my goal. What I did not expect, however, was the number of astounding people I met and got close to along the way. I have never felt so much part of such a large community of equals. Even though we all came from different places and have different skills, there was never a question we all had each others’ back 100% in class and on stage. Even though I have not been through here in years at this point, I still think back to my wonderful time learning and growing with this group of people. Thank you to the wonderful organizers behind this space. You make it all possible.
Best regards,
Alex

Came for an event. Performers were everything! Staff, not so much. We had purchased seat reservations and when we arrived a staff member informed us there was a glitch in the system and they couldn’t reserve seats so it was a free for all when it came to tables. I would’ve appreciated a call about that: otherwise, if we had arrived later, we would have been without a table! Which is fine, but we paid for one? Also, was promised two free mimosas and only received one (left before event was over, but 2nd mimosa was supposed to be given at intermission). As mentioned, performers were amazing and beautiful. Staff needs to be more friendly and informative!

The staff was so friendly that I hate giving this rating.
I came in early in the morning. I liked the idea of an early drink with breakfast, but decided on orange juice. Came from a carton probably used for screw drivers.
Ordered a grilled cheese that was veggie. For the price, I’d want a nice big sandwich.
The bread was flimsy thin or overly pressed. Not sure what the cheese selection was, but it did the bread no favors.
If you want a full bar with your 7am breakfast, I know few other options currently. If you want a great breakfast, I’d steer away.

Decided to stop by while waiting for a table at the nearby Roosevelt Room and had a very relaxing time.
The vibe inside is definitely coffee shop first, bar second, and overall fairly chill. The seating space inside was large and accommodating, and drink service was very fast.
I particularly liked the wall of liquors behind the bar, with a respectable selection regardless of where you go, and very respectable when considering the coffee shop environment.
I’d recommend stopping by!

Finding a good gluten free sandwich can be difficult. If you find yourself in downtown Austin, you can get a variety of quick, delicious sandwiches here! (Regular or gluten-free.) I had the half sandwich and soup of the day combo which did not disappoint. Cenote supports local businesses as well. Highly recommended!

Great local coffee shop that has amazingly tasty and large portions of food and the coffee is reasonably priced. They also have beer and wine, happy hour, and buy one get one free hamburgers on Thursday. Plenty of outdoor seating and dog friendly. We love this place!

This quaint and adorable restaurant is a must visit when you’re in Austin. It’s not your average diner-style food… but quality breakfast sandwiches, eggs, potatoes, etc. The line to get in was long, but it went fairly quickly and was definitely worth the wait. It reminded me of a grandma’s country cottage with real home-cooked food and great coffee! SO good!

I love their iced turbo coffee so so much! It had a small hint of chocolate with the coffee goodness. Their breakfast burrito was also great, lots of flavors and fillings. The tacos are normal, the vegan version wasn’t so bad. The staff was nice. Definitely will try again when I’m back.

I came here for breakfast and ordered avocado toast, bacon and a latte. Everything was delicious! They serve what I consider REAL avocado toast. A thick layer of sliced avocado, none of that thin avocado spread at this place. The people who work there are really nice and friendly.

We visited Jo’s after running along the river in Austin. I was expecting a pretty decent coffee shop with freshly baked goods and different varieties of coffee.
I ordered black coffee and there was only one choice for the type of roast. I would think if you are passionate enough to open a ‘coffee’ shop, you would at least have halfway decent black coffee in light, medium, and dark roasts. At a minimum. The coffee itself was fine, as in I would’ve gotten the same quality cup from just about any McDonalds or similar non-coffee fast food restaurant.
There was not a huge selection of baked goods and they were pre-packaged from some other store. We got there right at 8 on Sunday morning, so I would have to guess the baked goods we got were not fresh and were leftover from the previous day.
One of my friends also ordered a breakfast taco and we waited maybe 15 minutes before it was brought out.
The person taking our order was also not very friendly.
To top it all off, they have an Avocado Toast menu item that is $13!! 1 avocado is roughly $1 and a piece of bread is probably $0.25. How that adds up to a price of $13 on the menu is beyond me, and makes me think very poorly of the restaurant owner.
Overall I would not recommend. Visit somewhere else if you want good coffee and pastries in Austin.

The menus is online and you use an app for the entire meal. This style of dining with an app and everyone having a phone in their hand is not for me. The staff did not ask how the food as and it all seemed very impersonal. Food was ok but I did not have anything I would come back for. On an up note the restaurant is super cool and has a good vibe. If I were the owner I would get rid of the app and let the staff take care of the tables.

Gave up before ordering. Had to wrestle with barcode and finally get it all sorted and wanting my cocktail but then I have to key-in a credit card. They should be upfront about this sort of requirement. The place looked nice but they’re asking their customers to do way too much work to grab a bite. Guess all part of the new normal?

The line here is really long at times but it moves pretty quickly. The menu is a bit seasonal so some of the items you see in pictures will not be still available. I’m not a coffee fan but they also have a good selection of tea drinks, which I really appreciated. I did try the Ice Turbo one of the days I was there and it was actually too sweet for me, so if you’re like my and don’t have a sweet tooth whatsoever (like I eat 85% dark chocolate and milk chocolate is too sweet for me) I would recommend not grabbing that even though it’s one of their signature drinks. My friend who actually loves coffee said that she really enjoyed their house roast. I would recommend checking it out if it’s not too busy. The “I Love You So Much” is literally on the side of the building and you’ll find people doing photo ops there all the time.

Not from Austin, but my boyfriend googled local coffee shops for us to try during our visit. Not the greatest customer service. Actually horrible customer service! But their coffee and breakfast tacos are awesome. The building also has a wall painted in green with “i love you so much” seems to be the main reason why everyone goes there; snap a few photos with your significant other or ground of friends with the wall background & then get coffee and food. Be prepared that there will be two different lines (one for the wall & one for ordering coffee/food).

Came to the bike shop with my girlfriend to buy a tire and stopped by the coffee shop to see if anything looked tempting. We are from Miami so we asked the guys at the coffee shop for a recommendation around town. As two of the employees tried to help, LEO interrupted and said to us ladies “Have you heard of google? or the internet? it’s stated around 1990”.- with a very nasty attitude- I could not believe this guy was seriously saying that and asked him to repeat and LEO had the balls to do so.
Sorry, not stepping foot here ever again nor will I recommend this place to anyone. No one deserves this type of service. And as for management, they should reconsider this employee.

Late opening. Supposed to be open at 6am, 615 and still closed. When they did open, after adding cold brew, they water to top off the cup. I guess instead of paying for coffee, now we are paying for water to be added to our coffee as well. Not cool.
