Very great hostel to stay in and meet new, fun people! You get into the bar by a “special access” it was a great experience with live music! Such vining place, you’ve got to experience it for yourself!

My bf and I went to this bar about 5 years ago on a trip to Austin and really enjoyed the atmosphere, music and drinks. We went back this weekend after so long and it’s so nice to see it’s still standing and still great! I recommend this place if you’re the type that would rather sit and drink while listening to good music.

Wonderful environment, the DJ for the Rockin’ the Night was perfect for a night out!! Need more of him please!! The old school r&b classics was *chef’s kiss*.
The bartenders were great, super friendly and lively. The crowd was great, met so many wonderful new people!
I will definitely be back!

First time to Austin, and decided to eat here because I was seeing a show at their venue. Restaurant is totally overrated. The service was barely attentive or friendly. They couldn’t wait to get you out of there, and they didn’t try to hide it. Food was bland, dry and absolutely overpriced.
I didn’t notice until too late, but my chair had a nail just barely sticking out, and thankfully I had jeans on, otherwise my skin would have been torn up. I let my server know out of concern for other costumers with exposed skin, and the guy could not have cared less. He swiftly took the chair and told me to grab a different one with no apologies or thanks for letting him know. Almost as if I were making too big a deal out of it, and he had more important things to take care of. Not only that, it was the first time wearing those jeans, and I was really bummed they got snagged.
About the only things this establishment has going for them is the original owner’s history and its location. I obviously don’t recommend.

We came for the gospel brunch but didn’t know they weren’t doing it anymore. I think they should’ve specified on the website. The food was okay. Greens were good. Brisket was tough and dry and lacked flavor. The cheese sausage was very good, I would come back for it. The BBQ is more of a vinegar base, I like more sweet sauces. The service was excellent though all the way around!

Difficulty finding a parking space but that seems typical for Austin.
Had a meat and two. Black Angus brisket, Serrano cheese spinach, and Mac and cheese.
Food was awesome. Brisket was tender and taste w/o sauce… Love the Stubb’s sauce though. Serrano cheese spinach was good w/the right amount of spicy. Mac and cheese was good.
Service was friendly and fast.
Ate on the patio … so we could hang with the grand dog.

Solid food and a cool and comfortable atmosphere. Hands-down one of the best chicken-fried steaks I have ever had. Moonshine has been around for a long time and it would not and could not have in such a high-demand location if it were not putting out solid grub – and it is. Excellent brunch and dinner spot in the downtown area.

Had a great time here for Brunch on my first visit. Moonshine is very popular, so be prepared to wait an hour or so for brunch. I was pleasantly surprised with the feel of the inside. Gives you an almost upscale feel, but still relaxed. Popcorn was a big hit for me. It was really good. I also tried the fried green tomatoes, chicken and waffles, and my friend had the full moon platter. Our waitress was knowledgeable, friendly and provided great suggestions. She made my Arnold Palmer perfectly!

This is a great little cinema. I got there really early for my movie and I was able to get some cake balls (delicious!) with popcorn (yum – way better than typical theater popcorn!) & a glass of prosecco. I sat at a little table in the lobby area watching previews while I was waiting. In the theater, great viewing with comfy seats & big screen.

Edit: It happened again in 2019–a couple refused to move, even though they were warned when they bought their tickets they would have to move if those seats were needed. VC wouldn’t help. We cannot navigate any stairs anymore, so SOL. They gave us a refund, but it’s really hard to leave the house as it’s a lot of work. A lot of work for being rejected due to Parkinson’s
_________
I love this place for my disabled friend to comfortably watch a movie without the normal dangers of… well, most other theaters. The fact that you can reserve an accessible space (or have an able-bodied person move) is special. If only the concierge were more aware of this. There have been two instances where it was quite an ordeal to get him up the stairs, I think because the concierge was too timid to ask the obviously young and spritely couple to maybe offer their seats to someone elderly, who is endangered by walking up stairs. A simple, “we need someone who is not disabled to help accommodate this gentleman and his helper” might have sufficed.
We’ve been here about 10-15 times or so… so 80% success rate is not… terrible.
Word of advice, if you decline to give us an accessible seat, DO NOT DECLINE A RETURN. It’s discriminatory, close-minded, and the opposite of compassionate. I hope you fix this problem. I’m assuming this is a staff or training issue, so you haven’t lost my business. I hope this is constructive because I plan to continue to be a costumer. Just fix this… please. It’s important… maybe legally important… I’m not a lawyer or litigious… but one of your disabled patrons might be. Also, only one (or two?) handicapped parking space by the theater is also a considerable obstacle for us, depending on how well he is doing on a particular day. Even if you are completely compliant, consider adding spaces.
I would love to change my review. Please work harder to accommodate the disabled.
If you’d like to ask any questions, feel free to contact me, though I would suggest contacting someone who knows more about living as a disabled person with ambulatory or mental obstacles. I’m a friend helping another friend. I’m probably too ignorant about living with a disability to write more.
This problem continued to happen throughout 2018, so I’m lowering the review by a star. I hate to do that, but it’s the honest thing to do.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! OK, this is NOT a huge screen multiplex with car sized speakers blaring sounds of big budget explosions in outer space.* But for a relaxed environment with a full service bar you can’t beat this place! You don’t have to pay extra for your tickets because someone else wants to dine in their leather recliner served by a wait staff. The seats are comfortable and they do serve food but you’ll have to carry it to your seat yourself…how tragic! I like indie films shown in a comfortable environment and this place fits that description.
*Those explosions don’t make any sounds anyway since space is a vacuum. Just sayin’.

My daughter and I had a late lunch/early dinner here on a Friday before a concert. The restaurant had one other table with patrons. Our waiter wasn’t very accommodating. He brought us water but never asked us if we wanted any drinks. We did. Never asked us if we wanted an appetizer. We did. Never asked us if we wanted a second glass of wine. Never checked on us after food was brought. When it was time to go we had to call another waiter to come to give us our check. I asked for coffee with dessert. It never came. At that point our waiter was busy serving other tables. When he came to take our order initially we asked if there were any specials. He didn’t know and had to go ask. We’ve been to the taverna in Dallas so was hoping this would be as good. Not even close. Skip this one all together! There’s way too many great restaurants in Austin to settle for the lackluster experience you’ll have here.

Good oyster bar on 6th. If you like calamari I would recommended getting it from here. Very crisp and tender, a tough combo to get right. The ceviche portion was a little small, and some of the oysters that I got were slightly unappetizing but be smart and go on Wednesday evening to take advantage of half-off oysters and sparkling wines

Hamid was the most accommodating person we worked with while planning and re-planning our wedding and it was an absolute pleasure getting to work with him. The Belmont was the perfect space to host our event. We were able to have our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all at the same venue, but each felt like like they were all at a different location, thanks to the rooftop, in door bar, and outside dance floor/stage. There was also large spaces for the bride & groom to get ready in before. If you want a true downtown Austin experience, this is the spot!

Indian restaurant. Looks like a quality place. Though I hadn’t experienced their foods as I was busy and they also had a long queue. But their ambience looks really great. Looks like a full house place for every evening. This place isn’t for south Asians but I had seen lots of Americans there. They have a bar at their counter. Their parking is also free and their restrooms are good. I’m really interested to taste their food next time when I would visit Austin again.

Really great ambiance. Cool History! Yellow curry shrimp definitely not as expected. Much less a soup and more a sauce. Very strong coconut. Naan was great. Chocolate cake was great. Calamari was great, even if rather small individually, it was a good portion size fun drink names.

Don’t get fooled by the nice reviews, people are just being nice… Tomato paste and spices… this is how bad… Really BAD.. Butter Chicken (supposedly a signature and an Indian cuisine staple!!! How do you make that taste so disgusting?!) and curry coconut tasted so bad and not remotely close to what these dishes are supposed to taste like (and I’m talking from a modest American standard stand point).
Heavily Understaffed (took 30 minutes to get a drink, at the bar on a Wednesday night) and they also forgot the rice.. really? How do you forget the rice in an “Indian” restaurant?!!! . Tasted so bad, I think any average American with half knowledge about what goes on in the kitchen can make a better tasting recipes. Would love to go below one star but can’t. This place must’ve been good once but now it’s just living of off its name probably and focusing on profit and cutting cost. Sad. Gross and pathetic and I ended up throwing the food away because it was basically a tomato paste stew with curry, seriously! … WHO ARE THEY KIDDING??! I took offense to the quality being not at least decent. Don’t waste your time and money, find a real Indian restaurant.

This was amazing. Definitely a special event place. Very well decorated restaurant, with a warm elegant feel. Not the best view in Austin, but a beautiful restaurant either way. Our waiter, Brian, was extremely friendly, very welcoming and very excited to introduce us to the restaurant and everything they offered. He was very helpful with the menu items and offered some suggestions for appetizers and drinks. This was a great experience, pretty pricey, but worth it for amazing food and great service. I would definitely recommend.

This place is really a wonderful dining experience. The sea bass, the scallops, or the crab are all so unbelievably tasty. Don’t worry if you bring someone who is not a fan of the fish…while the apps are somewhat limited, the meatballs are delicious and their main course steaks are perfectly done and not an after thought for the fish adverse. If you love baked Alaska or you have always wanted to try it you will be at the right place. It is so yummy and comes out looking spectacular; a gorgeous mound of tasty that is fire…literally lit on fire. This is the spot to take someone who means something to you and appreciates food as it will set you back a bit.

The service is definitely over-the-top but by no means overbearing.
The food….literally every single bite was phenomenal in quality and taste from start to finish.
Honestly, for what we paid I believe we got more than our moneys worth for a restaurant located in a downtown area – drinks especially!
My only complaint is that I can’t do it all again tonight!

We went to Mohawk for our first concert in almost two years! We were a little anxious about being in super close proximity to people given COVID, but there is no top on this spot so it’s all outdoors. We felt comfy (and stoked to see live music) in there.
Having artists as amazing as Anderson East come through certainly doesn’t hurt one bit, either!

We had a great time – a little pricey but a cool place. Watch out for sneaky additions to the tab: our waiter asked us as we were ready to close out if we wanted to try their duck sliders. Seemed super nice and we accepted but then it showed up on our bill. I mentioned that it had seemed like he was treating us and he just responded that he wasn’t trying to be “shady” and that was not the case. Kind of put a damper on the meal.

If you are looking for a memorable dining experience, look no further. Our party of four immediately fell in love with the dark walls, moody lighting and incredibly attentive staff. Our server, George ( hopefully I’m remembering that right) made our sober party feel very welcome. We enjoyed some creative mocktails while waiting for our plates. We ordered a variety of dishes, ranging from plates with meat to flavorful vegan options. We particularly enjoyed the bacon wrapped apricots and chicken dish. The asparagus was grilled to perfection. I highly recommend Swift’s Attic for an intimate dinner with friends or partner.

In town from Orlando, and was seeking a nice dining experience on our last night. Made a reservation after looking at reviews, only to be sorely disappointed by the hostess we encountered. We kindly asked for a seat that was not directly behind the host stand (where she seated us), and she had a major attitude when she responded. Extremely rude to be customer facing and speak to others like that. Left right away and will not be back.

This place is awesome place to stay if you want to be near everything. Close enough to walk or scooter around. Standard rooms are small but charming. Has everything you need minus a microwave, no biggie. The reason I deducted 2 stars was because we wanted to go to the pool and it was a bit dirty. And one of the bartenders was just rude. (Not the pregnant one she was very nice). I would stay here again.

Excellent food, great service, and relaxing, outdoor patio dining.
There are two patios. We sat on the one in back. It was a bit cooler in the afternoon sun.
I had the shrimp enchiladas (3-a nice surprise) that were beautifully presented in a smooth sour cream sauce, along with nicely seasoned beans and non-sticky, fluffy rice. There were plenty of small shrimp inside the enchiladas..all the way to the last bite. $19.00.

Have been wanting to try this for quite some time and finally got out here on a Friday night with a large party. We were able to get a table for 10+ the day of and the servers here were pretty great.
The food took a while to come out, but we kept quite happy with the delicious corn bread that is served before the meals. This is better than bread and chips so it was a great first time having something like this.
It was about a month ago when we made our way out here so I don’t exactly recall what I had, but the meal was delicious and certainly a good experience. The prices were very fair as well for its location so that was another positive note that I didn’t expect. Definitely recommend this place to others!

Used to come here all the time in the 90s. I still like the atmosphere of an old converted house and lots of patio space. Unfortunately the smell indoors is like an old bar. The pasta diablo was very good and the Mexican martinis were pretty good but overpriced for what you got. Service was friendly.

Small venue but cool concept with bars on both sides. Sadly, they couldn’t make me an adios in downtown austin nor a raspberry lemon drop. On top of that, I got overcharged by the bartender adding to his tip amount. Overall wouldn’t come here again
